The other day I dressed as a wench during Pirate Day at the Maritime Discovery Center where I volunteer. Some of the kids who came were dressed up as pirates and it was adorable. I wish I had my camera or ipod with me But anywho, I'm busy busy busy these last few weeks. I was already working for two places plus volunteering, and now I took on re-doing my friend's website as well. I'm not used to being this busy during the summer! I haven't even been swimming yet! I need a tan

I got a kitty! His name is Tobias
I still don't have internet but I'm updating from my Mom's house So yeah, I love my new place...I need to take photos of it & post them online. It's so cute and I actually like the decorating job I've done! I'm getting a new futon this month and a microwave, so as always I am poor poor poor Also my friend Kyle has been basically living with me for the last two weeks. It's nice to not be alone but we both just got out of relationships so we're not bf/gf or anything
Tomorrow is the local Canada Day parade and once again I will be dressed as a mermaid. I'm going to try and get photos of myself this year lol. My/Graham's dog Bobo and Josh's dog Don will be dressing up and accompanying us in the parade I can't wait!

Don't make your child your clone
While similar themes between mama and baby can be adorable, dressing a two year old in matching MA*RS will quickly take you from cute to creepy From personal experience, if you and your child (or in my case, step child) are both wearing leather jackets but completely unique coords, you'll get a lot of positive attention Just remember that kids are meant to look cute, not sexy!

Doing your hair and makeup
I found this to be the hardest thing to accomplish when looking after Maddexx on the days where I was by myself. If you don't have any one else to help you for 30 minutes or however long it takes you to get ready, be prepared to distract your little one! I found that sitting my step son on the counter beside me (all my makeup etc was on the other side of the sink where he couldn't reach), he would pretend to brush his teeth and amuse himself with the sink faucet This gave me enough time to do my hair and makeup without worrying what he was getting into. Other ideas would be to put the child in the bathtub or playpen to play. Depending on their age, they might even be content sitting on the bathroom floor with a few toys!

Don't spend much money on clothing until your child is at least two
Babies grow incredibly fast (especially within the first year!), so buying designer clothing that's only going to fit them for a few months can really take it's toll on your wallet. If you really want to buy designer clothing, stick to the basics like pants and coats. That way you'll have more money to spend on other things...like diapers

Let your kids dress themselves
Once they're old enough to make clothing decisions, let your child dress themselves once in awhile. I had a friend who let her 4 year old little boy pick out an outfit one day when we were going shopping. He decided on a tuxedo jacket, plaid button up shirt, pj pants and cowboy boots, and he was so proud of his coordinate he walked with a swagger and told everyone in the store that he had picked it out himself I'm not saying every kid is going to dress as crazy as he did, but at least give them the opportunity to express their individuality through fashion, just like mama does!

Join a mom group
Mamas come from all walks of life but they have one thing in common; their children. You may be surprised at the types of women you get along with once you have a child Bringing your little one to a mom group is a great opportunity to exchange ideas, tips and of course let the kids play with each other.

Don't let yourself go!
Working out with a baby can be easy and fun! Simply using them as weights is a bonding experience and you don't even need to leave the comfort of your home! Once a week you should try to schedule have a few hours "time off" You can use this time to catch up on the latest fashions, hang out with friends, do some cleaning, sort through clothing, go on a date, etc. Ask a different friend or family member to come over and watch your child while you catch up on things around the house - most would be happy for the chance to spend one on one time with your little cutie

Involve your kids in your everyday life
A great way to raise a well-rounded child is to include them in (almost) everything you do. Washing laundry, going grocery shopping, etc can all be fun once your child is used to doing them with you and they know what to expect Most kids copy what they see their parents doing, so don't be surprised when your little one picks up a broom and starts sweeping

Buying baby accessories
We're lucky that these days we can buy car seats, cribs, bottles, etc not only for fairly cheap prices, but also with cute themes! Stores carry matching accessories in adorable colors and themes, which is awesome if you're a cute-a-holic like I am! And if you can't find anything you like locally, check online. I've seen some of the cutest gyaru inspired crib skirts, dressers, etc on sites like Rakuten The shipping might run a bit high if you don't live near Japan, so look into DIYing items yourself if possible. There are plenty of sites for crafters that can help you get started!

My nails of the day
Maybe I'm being stuck-up but I think I could do better gel nails myself. (I did only pay $40 for the full set though, so I shouldn't complain) I think I officially want to buy my own UV light and gels to do my own nails And maybe if I'm good at it I could do nails for others as well

Gel Nails

I gel nails, I'm not gonna lie! Gel nails are just what the name implies - gel is applied to the natural nail (or over a plastic tip) and cured under a UV light for a few minutes per layer, then voila! You have gel nails! I personally recommend gel nails because a) They don't smell!! b) They're pretty quick to do c) They come out looking super smooth and shiny! Most gels kind of level themselves off, but they can be filed and buffed if needed Personally I think they feel very natural, and they do a great job of protecting your natural nail (if you have weak, thin nails like me). Gel nails don't chip, so your color/nail art is protected but you can apply nail polish over your gel nails if you don't want to wait a few weeks (in between fills), to change your nail color Also, in my experience gels hold deco (rhinestones, cabochons, etc) better than acrylics or glue.

Acrylic Nails

I'm sure everyone has heard of acrylic nails! A special liquid is dipped in the acrylic powder, thus forming a little goo ball that once cured, becomes your acrylic nail! Like gel nails, acrylics can be applied over plastic tips or sculpted on their own. Acrylics come in a ton of colors, glitters and brands, as they've been around forever. Many people claim that acrylic nails are tougher than gels, but this hasn't been the case for me. Acrylics take a bit longer than gels to cure (I think! I haven't had acrylics done in a few years!), but the real reason I personally don't get acrylic nail extensions is because of their smell That's right - they smell like chemicals from hell! Back in the day they used to use Methyl Methacrylate, so if you see acrylics done in a salon that seem too cheap to be real, or the nail technicians are wearing masks, be careful! If the salon won't tell you what acrylic brands they're using, find a different salon

Full Plastic Nails (aka press on nails)

If you can't get false nails that match your nail size exactly, try to get ones that are slightly larger than your natural nail beds. This way you can file them down to fit you, whereas false nails that are too small won't cover your entire nail and look odd (plus some times they hurt! ) Be sure to buy the highest quality nail glue that is available to you! Press-ons are notorious for falling off and getting lost, leaving you with one finger (or more) that stands out...and not in a good way Press-on plastic nails are best suited for one-day wear, on a day that you won't be doing hard work while using your hands. If your falsies all stay on for more than one day, consider yourself lucky!

Fiberglass, Resin, Porcelain, Solar and Silk

I have no personal experience with any of these nail processes, so really all I know about them is what I've read online...and from what I've read online I don't think I'll be trying any of these types any time soon! (Fiberglass/Resin/Porcelain seem too brittle, Solar seems too expensive and Silk Wraps seem more for people who have damaged nails, which I do not have)

With any kind of artificial nail it is possible for your natural nails to be wrecked if the technician isn't doing their job properly! Be sure to choose your salon based on reputation, not by price.

My bff Andrew & I

When I think of 25 as an age, I think "omg that's SO old!" haha. I don't feel like an adult...it's so strange to think I'll be 30 in five years

So on the 21st my sister took me horse back riding in Errington The ranch also had a petting farm and they let us in for free - all the baby animals were sooo cute! There was a baby pony about as high as my waist and I was so in love! The baby miniature goats weren't even up to my knees! Ugh, too much cute

After riding we did some shopping in Coombs, met up with my bff Andrew, then drove back to Port Alberni. A few people came over and we had a BBQ, but it started to rain so we stayed inside There was sooo much food! Everything was soo good, I was totally stuffed full haha

I got pretty drunk & looked like an ass...as always Should've took more photos but iPods don't have flash so the pictures look blurry and pixely when it's bad lighting. And my mom had my good camera at her house

On the 22nd (my birthday) I slept until about 4pm, then got up to go to dinner with my mom and grandma. After we ate we came back to my place for cupcakes, tea & pie My mom couldn't find any candles so she was kinda sad I didn't get to blow them out and have a birthday wish lol. Aw.

In other news, I might have to move again! The house I'm living in is for sale and the owners (my sister's boyfriend & his sister) can't afford the mortgage. My sister and her bf are gonna move out and live at his sister's place while they try to rent this house out. So basically I can stay here *if* I can pay more rent...at least $800 per month to be exact I'm hoping a friend will agree to be roommates with me, because I can't afford $800 a month by myself! If I can't find a roommate and have to move out, I want my own place!

Etude House "Color Me Nude" lip concealer review

(Please ignore my ugly nails - I'm getting a full gel set tomorrow!)
Here are the items used in this review: "Color Me Nude" lip concealer by Etude House, "Deep Moisture Renewal" by Blistex, "Vanilla Smooch" from the lipLUSHous line by Bonnebell (smells/tastes sooo good ), and "Bubble Gum 437" by Billie Cosmetics.

In the "before" picture I have clean lips with Blistex chapstick applied. In the "after" picture I am wearing the Etude House lip concealer.

Final Thoughts: Instead of spending $10 on Etude House's "Color Me Nude" lip concealer I could have just as easily worn regular concealer on my lips, and with better results! I found that wearing the lip concealer on it's own as a lipstick worked ok for me, but as soon as I tried to apply anything on top of it the concealer would move or smudge, completely defeating the purpose of being a concealer and revealing my bare lips This is the first lip concealer I have tried and I thought it would stay in place once applied, but it comes off very easy. Even when I don't use chapstick for 24 before hand, the concealer still slides off I don't know if there is anything I'm doing wrong, but for now this concealer will be taking a backseat in my makeup kit.

My goal is to save $25 to $50 every month I reallly want to go to the mainland soon, so I gotta cut down on my frivolous spending! I'm thinking of eventually buying a gel nail dryer so I can do my nails at home That would save me about $50 a month (and I get my nails done cheap from a neighbor!). Eating at restaurants and getting delivery is probably the thing that costs me the most each month...so I gotta cut back and maybe even stop all together Hmm what else? I haven't bought myself any new clothes or accessories lately, just essential things like coverup and shampoo. I think if I kept a tighter watch on my spending habits, I'd see where all my money ends up disappearing and I could teach myself to stop spending so much

I had heard the term "shopaholic" before but I assumed it was just one of those things that women often called themselves. It wasn't until around 2008 when I read Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella, that I realized it meant something much more...

I identify with people who have shopping addictions. Do I myself have an addiction? I've never been clinically diagnosed, but if I am a compulsive shopper I wouldn't be surprised When I feel depressed, I turn to shopping. Shopping online is especially addictive for me since I tend to think of my online money as "play money", like that in games such as Poupee Girl, Gaia, etc. Seeing other people's "hauls" online also triggers me to want to buy loads of items for myself. It's not often that I buy one item at a time...I always get a ton of things I feel that I "need" because other people have them Once I have the items at home, I am no longer interested in them and go on the the next most fabulous thing money can buy.

I sometimes go months with only buying the necessities, but as soon as I have a little extra cash (and sometimes even when I don't) I binge shop. I often feel like I have all the money in the world and I can buy whatever I want because there will always be more money. I will not allow myself to get a credit card because I know I would end up deep in debt I feel that the following quote describes me to the T...

"Psychiatrists do believe that the behavior can be triggered by a need to feel special and to combat loneliness, as well as a hope that shopping will somehow change them for the better. But compulsive shopping satisfies none of those needs and therefore the shopper's behavior may escalate"

So why post about this on blogspot? I know I can't be the only one out there who shops to feel better about themselves. I use shopping as a form of self-medication and I worry about how far I might go with it one day Shopping addictions often go hand in hand with other addictions (cutting, drinking, eating disorders) and that scares me enough to go get help. I have my first counseling appointment later this month, and if you think you have oniomania I encourage you to do some online research and seek help as well

When I first put these in I thought "omfg they're huge!" The lenses are 14.50mm in diameter, which isn't as extreme as 15.00mm but they do the job!

You can really see the difference in size!

And once again, my boring hazel eyes without any circle lenses.

Final Thoughts: I actually prefer the Geo Magic Black (CK-105) lenses with my irises, but these give me the same "dark eyed" effect that I love (even though my mom said I look like an alien when I am wearing them haha). They're comfortable but a bit tricky to apply until you get used to the bigger diameter - the bigger the diameter, the bigger you need to open your eye lids! I really liked my blue Max Ring lenses so I think if I order from the Max Ring collection again, it will be another color.

Easter inspired nails

I'm agnostic so I don't actually celebrate Easter, but it's my second favorite holiday! (Halloween is my #1 favorite ) Easter has the prettiest colors, best candy and of course the cutest mascot! EOS King Size Violet circle lens review

Lenses from my online shop, Gyaru Eyes.

For people like me with lighter irises, these contacts look better in low light when your pupils enlarge. These photos were taken beside a window, so my pupils are quite dilated - hence showing more of my natural iris. This is why I prefer circle lenses that are gradient toward the pupil. (Click for example) Lenses that "fade" into the clear space for your pupil will blend better and look more natural on light colored eyes.

With and without the contacts in. You can see the difference in color and iris size.

Final Thoughts: Although the purple is a gorgeous shade, I really wish it blended better with my own iris color. I'll probably end up saving these lenses for night time...like going to the club etc. They're a good size, not too big, easy to put in and take out. Very comfortable. I didn't take any photos of it, but I also like they way they look when you put them in upside down! I did this by accident and thought the result was cool. The purple looks more soft and slightly lighter. It's like getting two pairs for one! (I don't recommend wearing your contacts inside-out on a regular basis)

This isn't a self pity post

It's been just over two weeks since Brian broke up with me I moved out the next day and have been living with my sister and her boyfriend. About three days after Brian dumped me, I found out I have a thyroid condition that's been getting worse for the past few months A side effect of having an under-active thyroid (other than it making you gain weight ) is that it messes with your hormones. I knew I was kinda bitchy lately but I didn't realize the extent of it until Brian dumped me. I'm on meds now and feel 95% better...but Brian still won't talk to me. The worst part is that I feel like I let down his son Maddexx...I miss him so much...that little boy changed my life

So the neighborhood I live in now is pretty nice and I have a few good friends who live within walking distance. I have custody of my dog Bobo while my ex-roommate Graham is in the hospital It's shitty he's in the hospital but the timing is great because I'm home alone during week days and having Bobo with me is a life saver

Palty Milktea Brown Dye Review

The model on the front of the box looks like she has light blond/brownish hair, but the panel on the box of the box looked a bit darker to me, so I was expecting my hair to come out more brown than blond.

1. Started out with (dyed) brunette hair
2. After one bleaching
3. After three bleachings
4. The final result after using Milktea Brown

You can see the brown dye VS my orange/yellow bleached out roots...

Final Review: I don't think my hair turned out quite like the box showed, but mind you my hair's color wasn't completely stripped and the fact that Palty dye is made for Asian hair (I have fine Caucasian hair), may have had some effect. Overall I like how my hair turned out, but it was lighter than I had hoped. The kit was easy to use (if you're used to dying your hair at home), and it smelled sooo good I loved the comb-like applicator (why don't American brands do this!?) and cute packaging. The dye's liquid was a bit runnier than I prefer, but I'm not gonna complain At the end of the day, Palty has some beautiful shades and I think the $14USD (including shipping costs to Canada) I paid was worth it

Orange hair for the day!

In the process of trying to lighten my hair, I ended up with orange shades last night. Instead of bleaching it out asap I decided to leave it for a bit It looks lighter IRL but it's dark & gloomy out today so I didn't have good lighting when I took the photo. Also I finally got a spray tan...omg I feel SO orangey! Maybe once I change my hair my face will look less dramatic

Today I ordered some things from Rakuten and Top Dresses and I think I'll try TaoBao soon as well...although I still think Ebay is the easiest for international online shopping to Canada I'll have to do a "gets" post soon - almost everything from my last spree is here

Gel nails!

Got my nails did yesterday night for only $30 for a full set The girl is kinda just starting her business and looking for new clients/wants to build a portfolio, so she's not charging much right now. I wanted black glitter tips but black doesn't exactly glitter and neither of us thought to throw in some silver or indecresent glitter with it, so it ended up looking like a bunch of tiny black flakes on my nails But that's ok, I still like them. Gotta get used to using longer nails again though.

I tried to take a photo of today's outfit, but apparently I fail big time when it comes to self timer haha. My entire outfit (besides my boots that you can't see) is from Urban Planet.

Life update

I tried to lighten my hair and once again, it went darker than it was originally This is getting ridiculous. My bf says it's a sign that I should stop trying to do my hair myself and get a pro to do it haha. I think I'll dye the tips black & have horizontal two tone hair - which is sooo 2010 but whatever! My hair right now is pretty damn dark Eventually I gotta get it light enough that I can use the Palty dye I bought! Bleh

Last month I ordered a lot of makeup/beauty/hair products online, this month I've tried not to spend money, and next month I'll be focusing on my style a bit more. There are a few clothing items online that I want to purchase...my only worry is that they won't fit! Sakuran Bomb is having a meet in Vancouver at the start of April - I'm excited! After (or before) the meet I'm going to do some shopping as well. It's been so long since I've traveled to the mainland, I can't wait to get off the island!

Essentially a gyaru gaki is a "gyaru brat"...a child (or baby, awww!) who is dressed similar to their gyaru or gyaru-o parents A few Japanese gyaru brands have children's lines, but I've been having a hard time finding clothing for little boys! My stepson (who turns two on the 24th!), is dressed more "scene" or "punk" when he's with his mom and more "gangster" when he's staying with us - which is about 80% of the time. On Japanese sites I've found some cute items but putting together a full gyaru-o inspired outfit for a toddler in Canada is proving to be harder than I had initially thought! My cousin's Dad was flown from Singapore to Japan to contain and put out the Oil Refinery inferno I stayed up until at least 7am this morning, waiting for the tsunami to hit us. They canceled school and most businesses are shut down today. I finally fell asleep and thought "the tsunami warning sirens will wake me up if I have to evacuate". I know the first wave already hit Tofino but I haven't heard much since then. Thankfully the sirens haven't gone off and it's almost 1pm now so I think our little town will be ok I live very close to the water, so friends and family were emailing and calling me to tell me to be ready to go to higher ground if needed. Since Brian and I don't have a car, we'd have to go a few blocks to a church up on a hill - that's the "safe spot" for people in our area who can't drive away

What a scary thing this world can be! Wasn't there a tsunami a few weeks (or less) ago in another country? We got a lot of wind here and there were warnings, I can't remember when it was so I can't find any articles on google I still remember 9/11 in the USA and how I thought that was the beginning of the end of the world as we know it It might just be all the media hype, but it does seem like earth is falling apart!

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder
I tried mineral powder as a foundation in the past with less than desired results, but after reading just about everywhere that mineral powder is the best type of foundation for people with acne, I decided to give it another try. The powder does a good job of covering my reddish acne and scars, plus since I started exclusively using mineral powder makeup my skin has cleared up quite a bit! The only downside so far is that the loose powder gets everywhere when opening the lid of the container or when applying it.
Verdict: Would buy it again

Annabelle SkinTrue Natural Lightweight Makeup
This is what I used before buying the Mineral Wear Mineral Loose Powder. It is the first liquid foundation I found that had shades that actually matched my skin tone! It does a good job of covering acne and scars without looking like you`re wearing too much makeup.
Verdict: Would buy it again

CoverGirl TruBlend Liquid Makeup
According to the advertisements, this liquid foundation is supposed to match 97% of skin tones and give you full, even coverage. When applying the foundation it took a few minutes to really match my skin tone, but it didn't cover my acne scars or fresh zits (from reddish to purple shades), in my opinion it made them more visible.
Verdict: Wouldn't buy it again

Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen / Blackest Black
This was my first time buying a liquid eye pen. For a pen called "Blackest Black" I assumed it would be a lot darker when going onto my skin. I like the fact that I can draw my eyeliner on easily, but even after going over the line a few times it's still not as dark as pencil or gel eyeliners.
Verdict: Wouldn't buy it again

Maybelline EyeStudio / Blackest Black
Before buying a gel liner I did a bit of research online. Apparently gels dry out after not being used for awhile, but this gel seemed "dry" when I first opened it! It goes on very thick, it takes a bit of work to smooth out the gel on my eyelid. Once dry on my lids, the gel seems to "crack" and look crusty.
Verdict: Wouldn't buy it again

Maybelline Volum' Express "The Falsies" / Very Black
I bought this with the hope that it would make my lashes look longer and fuller than other mascara's make them look. I found the mascara to go on very wet and messy, even after wiping off the brush. The brush has a slight curve but doesn't taper at the ends and is quite thick, making it almost impossible for me to reach my outer lashes and the roots of my lashes without getting mascara on my skin. The end result doesn't look like false lashes and I feel that I could achieve the same look with just about any other mascara on the market.
Verdict: Wouldn't buy it again

Great Lash Waterproof / Very Black
Much like the Maybelline Volum' Express "The Falsies" mascara, I found this mascara very messy to put on. The application wand is slightly easier to use but excess mascara tends to clump on the end of it and I found myself constantly having to wipe it off so that I wouldn't get the mascara on my skin. For a "waterproof" mascara I don't think it does it's job very well. As soon as I get into the shower or wash my face (avoiding my eyes) and water touches my lashes, the mascara starts to run and burns my eyes. I have to wipe off the mascara (which comes off easily with just water and a face cloth) before going swimming, which defeats the purpose of a waterproof mascara in my opinion.
Verdict: Wouldn't buy it again

Tonight my sister is in town so we're going to a concert and then the local bar Brian and I barely drink/see friends since living together, we're so lame haha. But tonight Brian's Grandpa is babysitting so we're free!

Brian and I both got paid the other day, he's mainly been buying clothing for Maddexx, so all his shopping inspired me to make a tumblr page with all gyaru mama and baby photos! CLICK! I wish gyaru-o style toddler clothes were easier to find around here Most of Maddexx's clothes are brands like Roca Wear, Quicksilver, and other random baby brands. Brian got him the cuuutest Etnies brand shoes yesterday - I just love shopping in kids' stores!!

I did some online shopping of my own, since most things I can get cheaper online. I bought Etude House's Color me Nude Lip concealer, a fake eyelash applicator, 10 fake upper lashes, a mascara applicator guide, and Palty hair dye in Milk Tea Brown. And it all cost under $30 I dyed my hair last night and once again, it's too dark, ugh. So I guess I'll have to bleach my hair before I use the Palty dye. I want to try the Vanilla Beige one day too

I've finally moved in with my boyfriend Brian and his 22 month old son! It's been a big change but I love it. I need to find something to do until fall when I start school - I'm thinking I might just stick to freelance photography mixed with some babysitting.

I am totally aspiring to be a gal mama! I'm too busy right now to really focus on my own style, but I can't wait until things settle down a bit. I trimmed my bangs but they're a bit shorter than I wanted. I hate when that happens haha I hope they grow out asap! I'm going to try dying my hair with Palty soon, maybe try some light brown streaks...we'll see...I'm constantly changing my mind

I graduated from SakuranBomb this month. I feel bad because I didn't contribute much and couldn't make it to most of the meets. Now that I've moved even further away from the mainland (it'll cost me an extra $50 every time I wanna go to Vancouver), it will be even harder for me to save money to go to meets And of course the fact that I now have a stepson that I live with makes a huge difference too. I can't wait to have money to buy him little gyaru-o outfits! I've bought him some clothing but in the summer it will be so much more fun to dress him haha

Some notable highlights for me would have to be meeting the girls of SakuranBomb, starting this blog, finally getting a cell phone, my first time camping, and of course beginning a new life with Brian. I hope everyone had/is having a good holiday! Brian and I are back together and everything is pretty much back to normal - it just sucks that I had to loose a friend over it. But life goes on! I spent most of the last week at my parent's place. On Christmas day we opened gifts and had turkey dinner. Maddexx got lots of cute toys and clothes! I got a few new shirts, earphones, lots of candy & chocolates, etc. Every year I say I don't want anything, but every year my friends and family feel obligated to buy me things! At the start of the month I was sooo happy! Planning on moving in with Brian, going to school, etc etc...and now I don't even think Brian and I are together anymore. It's killing me. He didn't even "break up" with me...he just refuses to talk to me/answer my texts or calls. So freakin weird! And I *just* found out that the main reason why has to do with a mutual friend of ours trying to sabotage our relationship. I'm really hurt that he won't talk to me about it or let me know what's bothering him and I'm even more hurt that a friend would try to break us up for her own personal gain. Brian had stopped talking to this "friend" a few weeks back, and now I am no longer going to talk to them either. I can't believe someone who says they are one of your best friends would be so selfish! Brian and I were happy, we had no issues as far as I know! UGH. Merry Fuckin Christmas. I can't trust anyone! I really hope Brian will talk to me so we can sort things out because I'm sure the "friend" of ours probably made shit up about me. This is why I don't have many female friends!!! Bleh.

The above photos are of some recent items I got I absolutely love browsing the baby section for clothing for Maddexx! He's 20 months old now but still can wear 18 month sizes. God he's so cute!! The hat I got for Brian probably seems pretty lame but I don't know what to get a guy for Xmas! He wears hats once in awhile when he doesn't feel like doing his hair, so I got him a new one since the others are played out. Brian actually has good style - better than my own for sure. Even Maddexx has nicer clothes than myself! The custom pendants and nails are from Michiko and came in the mail on Friday. I'm sending handmade gal themed Xmas cards to the Sakuran Bomb girlies as soon as I finish them And lastly, I got myself some Deréon panties and a coat from Warehouse One. Not exactly luxury items since they were things I needed, but I thought I'd post them anyway. I have a mental list of items I want to buy but they will have to wait until after I have moved and got a new job! Have I mentioned how excited I am about moving? I can't wait! I've already started packing haha. I'm going to miss this house and living with my roommates, but I'm ready to move on and start a new chapter in my life. The thought of being a gyaru step-mama is the most amazing thing to me. I love Maddexx so much

Everything is changing so quickly! My roommate Graham is moving out Jan 1st and Josh (my sister's boyfriend) is supposed to be moving in. Right now we're renting the entire house but we're going to give up the basement suite and I am going to move out to live with Brian. (Serena, Josh and Andrew are keeping the upstairs suite of the house) I'm not officially going to be out until Feb 1st, but with the holidays and everything there won't be much time to pack! I'll be giving or selling away most of my furniture and things - I just love moving!! And I know it's soon to be moving in with Brian but I've been practically living with him since before we started officially dating anyway lol. I'm so so excited for my new life! Brian and I are gonna stop the partying (we already have actually) and be all adult-like I'm going to try and get a job once I move (probably at one of the local bars), then start school in September to be a pre-school teacher. It's going to be such a change to be a step-mom 5 days out of the week! I might even let Brian convince me to get my driver's license. When I move in with Brian I will be living on the First Nations Reserve, so I think I might make a separate blog for my adventures being the only white girl living on the reserve lol. I had a lot of misconceptions about First Nations people, their bands, their reserves, etc before I was with Brian and I want to express my new found knowledge to the world!

A boring update about my life

Everything keeps changing so quickly, it's hard to keep up! I pinched a nerve while at work one day so instead of doing cash for 3 to 4 weeks (I haaated being on the cash register), I quit my job. So once again I am broke! I visit Brian a lot, which means I save money since I never have to buy groceries haha. But I really do love spending time with him and his son is pretty much my favorite thing ever. Brian's mom has started calling me her daughter-in-law lol. And in other news, I might have to move soon because of a government screw up. Bleh. It's a long story so I won't get into it, but basically if I have to move I guess I'll go back to Port Alberni, which is fine because that's where my family, friends and Brian are. I'm stressed out about money and wondering if I'll have enough to buy Xmas presents. I might have to get my craft stuff out in order to make gifts for some people. I bought a pair of slippers for myself, but other than that I can't remember the last time I bought any clothes or accessories. Being poor sucks! I want to look for a new job but I'm waiting to see if I'm gonna have to move or not first. Frustrating!!

I trimmed my hair the other day and this is how it turned out:

It's slightly shorter than I had wanted originally, but when it starts growing out it will be the length I wanted. I bought some brown dye today that looks very similar to Palty's "Milk Tea Brown". Also, I think I forgot to mention that I finally got a cell phone! I went with LG's Keybo 2 because ~~you can hack it to get free internet~~ I really wanted a phone with a keyboard since I freakin suck at texting. Now I don't know how I ever lived without it! For someone who doesn't drive (aka ME), it makes life so much easier! Unless the person I'm trying to get a hold of doesn't have a cell, haha

I'm barely home because of work and traveling to see Brian (he lives a bit less than 2 hours away), so I haven't done much of anything lately. My nails are a mess, I can hardly remember any of the Japanese I was learning, and I'm getting behind on my favorite tv shows...but I'm happy! I really like my job and I love hanging out with Brian. It was the Canadian Thanksgiving last weekend and I invited him to our family dinner (I've already met most of his family) so he got to meet my crazy Mom and Grandma. My sister was cordial toward him but a bitch to me haha. She hasn't said anymore racist things toward him, so I've let it go and chalked it up to her being angry at her own boyfriend. Whatever bro! And next Monday I'm going to the dentist so I want to ask them about Invisalign or something similar. It's my dream to have perfect teeth!

EOS Max Ring Blue circle lens review

These lenses are from Gyaru Eyes and came in the mail yesterday! It's my first time trying blue lenses and I am quite happy with the result!

The lenses actually look a bit darker but I lightened the photos in photoshop so you could see the design & color better.

These lenses are 14.5mm which is larger than my natural iris diameter, but I don't feel they make me look like an alien haha

My naturally hazel eyes without any contacts, etc

Final Thoughts: I wish the color covered more of my natural iris, but otherwise I really like the design and shade of blue used. I never thought of myself as ever having blue eyes but these lenses aren't so light that it looks freaky on me. I look forward to wearing them out and seeing if anyone notices the color change!

Pic of our awkward first kiss from the other weekend haha. Because I'm creepy like that!! But yeah, it's not the guy I was talking about in my previous posts - it's my friend Brian! It all happened so quickly! We just started hanging out and and clicked I guess. We sort of went on a few dates but no one said they were "dates" so I wasn't sure if he like liked me. I asked him last night & he said he wanted to date...and that was that I guess lol On Monday I got to hang out with his son Maddox who is 18 months. He's so flippin adorable! I've never dated anyone with kids before though - I wonder what my parents will think when I tell them haha. I know that as long as I'm happy they'll be happy for me regardless

This morning I told my sister that Brian and I were dating and she shocked me by not being supportive. She was down right racist. I don't know if it's because she's jealous or just concerned for me, but I'm sad for her. Racism and stereotyping isn't cool. Plus I know for a fact that she's hooked up with non-white people in the past! (Brian is First Nations) I'm frustrated but I'm going to ignore it for now

At Jolene's wedding reception. By this time I had taken off my heels and took out my hair poof. I don't know if there are any photos of me with the poof, but I kinda failed at my "hime attempt". I forgot to bring eyelash glue, so I just kinda said skrew it haha.

I randomly ended up at a metal concert (Children of Bodom, Black Label Society, ect) in Vancouver...

I went to a Chinese baby shower for my sister's boss. This is their first born daughter - so cute!

Finally, here's me on my first day of work at Michaels. I was wasting time in my boss' office lol.

So the other day I basically asked out my crush but he said he's not ready for a relationship. I'm kinda pissed off...at myself...in a way. I feel silly for putting myself out there like that, but I have before and it's no big deal. I'll be pissed off if he starts going out with this other chick though...oh man. Boys are so, frustrating Tomorrow after work my friends Barbara and Brian are gonna pick me up and we're gonna see a movie then go to Port Alberni (where they both live). On Sunday I'm helping out Barbara with a local photographer meet (it got rescheduled a few times). I'm nervous but hopefully it works out alright! I'm going to have to miss the zombie walk because of work I think. But as long as I get Halloween off, I'll be happy! I'm thinking I'll be a bunny for Halloween because I already have pink ears and it would be a super easy costume to do haha. I love Halloween but I'm so laaaazzzzyyy! lol

I dyed my hair a darker shade of brown but it's not showing up so well in photos...I think it's a lot more "chocolately" in real life...

I had a job interview at Michaels and I got hired on the spot! I start working next week! I'm really excited that not only did I get hired, but I got hired at a fun place to work! Today is also my sister's 22 birthday. We're going to a movie tonight but I don't know which one yet...I hope we get to see "Devil" because I want to know what the heck it's about!

I keep forgetting to say that I finally finished watching Super GALS!. I liked the main character Ran (to a point), but most of the other characters were irritating. Especially Aya. I would slap her and tell her to get a life if she were one of my friends. Chi is still the best anime out there IMO! I'm still not a big anime fan but I am going to continue watching animes because I noticed that it does help with learning Japanese. I've picked up a few phrases from watching Super GALS! that I probably wouldn't have learned otherwise. Next I'm going to watch Bottle Fairy because it's short, then I should probably try and finish the Sailor Moon series.

Next week my galsa is having a meet in Vancouver! I can't wait and I hope we go to Dasio because I really want a new usamimi. I'm still trying not to spend too much money though, which is boring! I think in October I'm going to get a cell phone though. I'm pretty much the last person in North America without one haha. I definitely want a phone with a keypad since I'll primarily using the phone to text and use facebook. Oh, and take photos! I'm excited for this weekend - I'm going to try himegyaru for a friend's wedding! I can't remember if I've ever mentioned this in my blog, but I'm not much of hime fan. Some people can pull it off beautifully, but it's just not my thing. BUT since I'm going to a wedding and my outfit is rather hime looking, I figured I might as well do the hair & makeup to match. If it doesn't work out I can always wear something else

Other things I gotta spend money on (once I have extra $$$) are a passport, a winter coat, some "Shape Up" shoes, and new pants because I hate all the pants I have right now. I'm also thinking of getting permanent make up for my eyebrows since they grow in gimpy and I hate having to draw them in every single day. Bleh.

I just wanted to say that I'm doing ok, and thank you for the kind words on my last post! I wish we lived in a perfect world where things like this never had to happen (especially not to kids!!), but unfortunately we don't and we have to deal with whatever issues are thrown our way. I've had a lot of support from my friends, but on the depressing side of things I've also learned that quite a few of my female friends have been harassed, raped or assaulted. I'm thinking that I might volunteer with a local group that helps abused women and children - if I can handle it emotionally

Today I was up at the university and I felt like a total dud. Everyone was in their new back-to-school clothes and looking fashionable, then there's me in a total fail of an outfit. For awhile I knew that I need to update my wardrobe but today just made it 1000 times more obvious. I hope I get a part time job soon! And also a boyfriend, hehe Man I'm a lewzer lol. But I'm gonna keep a positive outlook and I think good things will happen!

For as long as I can remember, I've been one of those people with the "it won't happen to me" outlook on life. Last night I rode on the back of a motorbike for the first time in my adult life (my Dad had bikes when I was a kid but I don't really remember riding on them) and I was so scared, but at the same time I had complete trust in the rider and I truly believed that nothing bad could happen to me. But this story isn't about motorbikes. It's about sexual assault. (Stop reading now if you don't want to know more!)

Last night I was at the bar with a friend, a friend of my friend, and another person we had just met that night. All three were males, but being a girl with mainly male friends, I didn't think anything of it when I said they could all crash at my place for the night (because none of them were locals). I went to bed by self in my room with the door shut, and the three of them passed out in various places up and down stairs. I had been drinking but I was fairly sober by 6am when we all finally went to bed. I like to think that I'm a nice & hospitable person. I gave them blankets, cups of water, etc to make them as comfortable as possible in their various drunken states. Apparently this was taken the wrong way by one of them and in his mind this seemed to mean I was DTF?? (Down to fuck - Superbad y'all!) Sometime when I was asleep he came into my room and hopped into my bed. I was like wtf but I have a queen size bed and there's lots of room so I gave him a blanket and assumed he'd just pass out on the other side of the bed, as I was passing out. I was wrong. I was trapped between him and the wall. I said "No", "Don't", constantly pushed his hands away and told him straight up that I was not interested. He wouldn't quit so I made up an excuse and escaped from my room. The other two guys were still sleeping, so I used the computer for a bit, then went downstairs to watch tv. There was no way in hell I was going to lay down again because I was afraid he'd find me and come bug me again.

Finally after everyone had gotten up, I was sitting hiding downstairs and watching tv. The guy walked by and semi apologized for "scaring me out of my own bedroom". I mumbled it was ok and ignored him. I thought, "maybe he does regret it and he was just being drunk and retarded" and I felt slightly better. But no. I'm half laying, half sitting on the couch and he climbed on top of me! I couldn't get out from under him and I once again I didn't know what to do. He was talking & laughing about something but I don't remember because all I could think about was how to get away. When the other two guys came downstairs, he joked about how he had climbed into bed with me and made it sound like I enjoyed it or something. I didn't know what to say or how to react. I got out from under him and quickly got changed upstairs (I half expected him to try coming into my room while I was changing). The guys wanted me to walk them back to their vehicles (parked a few blocks away), so I agreed since I really just wanted the one dude to leave. On the walk to the vehicles he joked again about getting into bed with "Tits McGee". As if I wasn't already confused and weirded out - I was like seriously wtf dude! Once they got to their vehicles we said our goodbyes and he yelled "Call me if you want to make out!". I kept walking, I didn't turn around, I said nothing. I just wanted to get home and have a shower.

Now obviously I could have been more upfront and aggressive when trying to get him to fuck off. But I was afraid. I don't think I've ever been afraid in my own home. I feel so confused. I know people could argue that it's my own fault for letting three guys into my home to stay the night when they were visibly intoxicated, but that doesn't make it alright. I'm very glad he didn't do anything further than molest me (I hate society - just saying "I was molested" makes me feel like a bitch and a bimbo at the same time), but I do feel violated. I feel, degraded. The fact that he thought there was nothing wrong with what he did and he made jokes about it and showed no remorse...that disturbs me. I said NO. Never before had I dealt with a guy who didn't stop when I said no. It really shook me that he didn't stop when I asked him to. I didn't invite him into my room. I didn't invite him into my bed. I don't know how people deal with abuse and rape, because one "tiny" incident and my emotions are all fucked up. I told my sister what happened and she got so mad that she messaged the guy on facebook a letter about how he's a piece of crap, etc. I know what he did wasn't right, and yet I still feel guilty about telling anyone and feeling bad about it. I feel like I should just be able to get over it and not let it bug me - but it does bug me. More than I care to admit.

When I got home from walking the guys to their vehicles, I locked all of the house doors and took a shower. I couldn't even go into my room for most of the day because it smelled like his sweat/aftershave shit, and it made me feel ill. I feel like I am a victim, but if I say it out loud everyone will say I'm trying to get attention, or that I deserved it. I tried to look online for advice but all I could find for women was articles about rape. Although I was frightened, I am still very thankful that I've never had to go through the trauma of rape or abuse. I always wondered why so many women don't report their attackers, and now I have an idea why. Most attacks come from someone the victim knew or were at least comfortable with. Reporting someone who you have mutual friends with must be so hard...I can imagine how guys might band together and say the girl was a slut and she wanted it...turning people against the girl...it's just a horrible situation. At first I didn't know if I should tell anyone what happened - I thought maybe I was overreacting. But after a few hours of feeling stressed out and afraid, I knew I had to tell someone regardless of how they judged me. I had to write it all out. Try to make sense of my thoughts and feelings. I wonder how many other girls have gone through similar experiences and have felt too ashamed to tell anyone, or brushed it off because they didn't want to offend anyone or start drama. I'm not going to go to the cops or anything like that, but I am making it a point to never see this person again. I wish things like this didn't have to happen...I feel powerless right now, but at least I can write about it. Although I feel confused, I know my rights and No means No, regardless of the situation. I hope all girls (and boys) know this in their hearts and don't blame themselves when bad things happen to them. This experience has really opened my eyes...

I haven't been home much lately, sorry blog world!

Both luau parties got canceled, so that was kind of a bummer. I did end up partying my ass off anyway, but that's beyond the point haha. I spent most of my time chillin at friend's houses or being out at the water. One night I even ended up at a high school kid party. I made a new friend and a new cuddle buddy! My cuddle buddy is my crush (awweee) so I'm pretty happy. I don't know if he likes me though...I mean, I think he does...but guys are so weird. He hasn't "made a move" and neither have I. We've both been single for about the same amount of time (2 or 3 years - wow I suck!) so maybe he's scared of messing up or scaring me off. Who knows. He might be moving to a different side of the island soon, so I'm going to be selfish and hope he doesn't! I'm pretty sure a different guy friend of mine is in like with me, but unfortunately I'm not interested in him that way. He's such a good guy though! I feel terrible that it's always the "bad boys" that girls fall for, but I am no different. And to be honest, I'm not exactly a "good girl" myself lol. I think he was about to confess his love for me one night, but just about as he was going to, our drunk ass friend came up and started yelling, then fell over sideways. The timing was so perfect it was like I was in a movie or something! I really wish I had a video camera so I could tape my drunken adventures. Other highlights of the last 2 weeks include being shunned by someone's OCD mom, puking my guts out after trying Sambuca, dying my hair back to brown, passing out with random dogs, watching about 5 girls kick some guy's ass, having my foot molested by an old dude with a foot fetish, being soaked with cheap champagne and glow paint (in the same night), falling UP the stairs, finding mysterious finger print sized bruises all over my arms, finding scratch marks on the side of my ass but nothing on my pants, going down the river on a cloudy day (I was so cold my entire body was shaking involuntarily), explaining butt massages, seeing Jarod after 3+ years, having Seth threaten to tattoo a monster truck on my nose, getting so high off 2 hoots of a joint that I had to call my mom, getting shot with a pellet gun, and I'm sure there were more things that I should remember, but I don't!

Hopefully I'm not sick, but I haven't been eating much lately. It's like every time I eat I instantly feel like barfing afterward. I should probably get that checked out (I haven't actually thrown up from the gross feeling) but I don't want to because I think it's going to help me loose weight! I'm a semi-tall chick, so being bigger really makes me feel self conscious. I honestly think I look better without clothes because I can never find clothing that fit me in a flattering way. I'd rather walk around in a bikini than a full layer of clothing. I know I should loose weight but I'm just so damn lazy. I really need to get back into the habit of working out every morning, etc. Have you seen Amber from "Teen Mom" on MTV? She's like a freakin size 1 now!! If she can do it with a kid, I can do it without one!

I mixed what was left of my light purple dye with a bit of this reddish purple dye I had, and this is what my hair turned out like. I think it's cute but I'll probably have to retouch it before I go to Vancouver on Tuesday. Tonight I'm skipping burlesque practice and going to Port Alberni so that I can go swimming with some friends tomorrow. It's been sooo hot out, I've barely been wearing any clothing. Yesterday my roommate Graham and I walked to the dam near our house and I dipped my feet in but I didn't go swimming. I can't wait to swim tomorrow though! The only thing is I probably won't have time to do my nails before I go to Vancouver. Maybe I can do them on the ferry ride to the mainland (it takes like 2 hours). Anywho, I'll probably update Tuesday night or on Wed!

I did a bit of cleaning today (when I wasn't busy melting from this heat), and realized I had a bunch of stuff in storage downstairs! So I have more crap to get rid of than I initially thought lol. I went through some old diaries - so many stupid and hilarious things happened that I wouldn't remember otherwise (have I ever mentioned that I have a horrible memory?). I skipped over the depressing parts because I know they would make me cry

I still haven't chosen a burlesque name but I think I'm getting closer. Once I choose a name I'll make a new FaceBook account and probably have a separate journal for my dancing stuff. Also the SakuranBomb summer meet is super soon! I'll have to dust off my camera and bring it with me (unless my sister will let me borrow her little cheapy one). I won't have money to shop or anything, but I should at least have enough to get there and back. Hopefully haha. I shouldn't have bought groceries yesterday! I'm getting money on the 18th though, so I'll still be able to go to the upcoming luau parties. I'm excited! I wish I had some money to do a mini road trip before school starts, but oh well. I might try and save up and go to Alberta in the next few months. But if I don't get a job I doubt I'll be able to go there. I'd like to! Aaron will be out of commission for the next 3 months or something because of his hand getting fucked up, so if I could go visit him, sooner than later would be best. I guess it's too bad I don't drive!

I went to Port Alberni for the weekend and saw some friends I haven't seen in a few months. On Saturday night I got pretty drunk off mixed vodka drinks, and actually didn't end up at the bar! I love house parties that don't suck! Aaron was totally drunk and blabbing about how he would date me if we lived in the same province and how he might just move back and sweep me off my feet. I totally laughed and didn't know what to say. Boys are so weird! And speaking of house parties, two different friends are having luau parties in the upcoming weeks (one of them is gonna have a keg!). I'll probably do a banba inspired makeup style for both of them - if I'm not too lazy!

I was hanging out at my mom's house in the country and found a nest of guinea fowl. The next day it sounded like the mommy bird and her babies left the nest so I went to investigate and found a little guy who wasn't quite out of his shell yet. I felt bad for him and helped him out of his shell then tried to find his mom. She was no where in sight so I tried to keep the little guy warm and gave him some water. When my Mom's next door neighbor came home from work I brought the baby to him to take in since he owns the parent guinea fowls. The mom probably won't accept him so the neighbor will have to hand-raise him. I hope the little guy survives! It was my first time dealing with a newborn bird!

First banba attempt!

I tried bleaching out my hair and it looked gross (as I suspected it would). So, I used the lilac Manic Panic hair dye I had to make it purple!

This morning I was bored and decided to try banba makeup. Apparently dark foundation brings out every little pore, wrinkle, and blemish on my skin, so I had to hella photoshop the pic! After taking a few photos I wiped off the dark foundation and realized that even though I look quite pale it suits me.

The last few days were really fun but now I'm so sun burnt! On Sunday I spent half the day at my friend Aaron's parents house at the lake. He's visiting BC from Alberta - I hope to get the chance to go to AB and visit him there one day! It was soo nice out. Then the next day we went tubing down the river. I borrowed a tiny blow up boat from Josh O's girlfriend and totally biffed it while going over a large rock. I was so scared I was going to die and everything was going so fast, I didn't know what was up or down. Luckily I popped up to the surface and was able to get back into the floaty boat before it (or I) got swept away in the strong rapids. *Whew!* In the calmer part of the water the 5 of us joined our floaties and just drifted in the afternoon sun. Very relaxing! Both Aaron and Serena lost their shirts during the rapids. It's something everyone should try at least once! But the bad part is that I broke all of my nails except three

My galsa SakuranBomb () has a new website and is having a beachy gyaru meet this month! More details on the website! I really hope I can go! Maybe I can convince my sister to come as well. I think I'd like to try banba, as I'm finally getting tan and I might be dying my hair purple tonight. That's right, purple. I'm out of blond dye and I have no money to buy any more, so I'm going to bleach out my hair (it's better than having gross roots) then if the blondness is too much I can use the lilac hair dye I already bought. I figure no jobs are hiring me with "normal" hair, so what difference will purple hair make? And if the purple looks ugly, I still have some black and dark brown dye that I haven't used yet either. Ideally I'd like my hair light blond/pink but I'll have to find the right dye (and get some money) first. I really like a lot of the Palty colors, so maybe one day I'll try one of those...

Yesterday my sister was at the beach and someone told her a dude was under some stairs masturbating. The guy obviously was (EW!!) so she yelled at him and someone started calling the police. He tried running away so she chased him to his car and wrote down his license plate. How messed up is that though!? I hope the cops do something about it because that is just sick - there's little kids at the beach!! I wonder if it's the same man who was molesting girls and jerking off at university last year *BARF*

So anyway, I'm super broke and hella depressed. I've been avoiding talking to people because I feel that I have nothing worth saying. I really wish I could get a job. Right now I have less than $1 to my name, but at least I paid all my bills and debt. I think I will blog more once I start feeling better.

PS I'm going out of town today to visit my Dad before he leaves to go tuna fishing. I'll be handing out even more resumes when I get back home on Monday.

As of yesterday I'm part of a local burlesque group! (Bet you didn't see that one coming haha) In between the girls' sets, I go on stage and pick up their clothes and props...comically of course! I'm pretty sure it's not a paid job, but it's something to do. And I don't have to take off anything lol. I'm thinking of getting a slutty maid outfit, as it seems fitting since I'll be picking up after the dancers. They have some really cute ideas - and the first show is on Halloween! Anyway, pic spam!

I just called Pet Smart and I don't think I got the job I have the worst luck with getting hired! So anyway, I put some of my lolita stuff on ebay and I'll be adding more soon. I need money to pay off debt and bills! I've made a pact to NOT spend any money (unless it's a necessity like toilet paper), until I've paid back my roommates and have saved up approx $4000 or so. And unless I get a job soon, saving up money is going to take awhile

Today I had a job interview at Pet Smart, and although I think it went ok I don't know if it went well enough to get hired. They ask some hard questions!! I applied to be a dog groomer or trainer. Either one would be such a fun job! I can't believe it's almost August already - and I still haven't got a job

I took out my septum and left lip piercings. I felt so naked at first but now it's not so bad. Maybe I'll let them grow in. I haven't decided...it's been so long since I've had them it feels like I'm a traitor to take them out haha. But I do need a job and I think not having piercings will make it a bit easier to find one.

I tried to shape my nails "almond" but some came out more pointed. I think they look almost claw-like! I wonder if they'll look better or worse with nail polish...

Beaucon Jewels Brown circle lens review

I bought my Beaucon Jewels circle lenses from Charleneshop on blogger. The lenses arrived in great condition but stupid me couldn't figure out how to open the bottles (my roommate opened my first package of circle lenses)! Here is a great video on how to open a circle lens vial if you need it! So anyway, I took the lenses out and let them sit in fresh contact solution for a few hours before trying them on. These are the results:

In case you missed my first circle lens review, my eyes are hazel. They're dark blue around the outer iris edges, olive green for the majority of the iris and light brown around my pupils. They sometimes seem to change color in different lighting though. My irises seem to be fairly regular sized in diameter.

I felt that the lenses gave me an enlarged iris look, without being overly dramatic (Beaucon Jewels lenses are 14mm in diameter). Before purchasing these lenses I had only seen them worn on dark brown eyes. I was secretly hoping that they would make my eyes look more of a darker brown, but a light brown is ok too!

Final Thoughts: When I first put the lenses in there were bubbles which kind of freaked me out (I'm still new to the contact scene), but apparently that's normal and if you blink they come right out The lenses were more comfortable and I had an easy time taking them out and putting them in. Beaucon Jewels lenses are great for slightly changing your look! I think the Beaucon Jewels series are gorgeous on dark brown eyes, and lucky for me they're cute on lighter eyes as well! Beaucon is a Japanese brand and I would definitely buy lenses from them again.

Back from camping, etc

It's been so hot lately - and I've actually got a full body tan! Most of it is due to self-tanner, but I'm starting to get dark from the sun as well. Ohh I love summer! So on Friday I went camping with Serena, Josh and a bunch of people I don't know. We did fun stuff but I was definitely the third wheel and ended up alone a lot of the time. I brought Bobo with me and there were probably at least 10 other dogs camping too. My sister was being really bitchy toward me though so I was relieved to leave the campsite and go to my Mom's the next day. I hung around her house for a few days and helped out with gardening and junk, which got me quite tan on my shoulders but no where else haha. Anyway, nothing really exciting so here are some photos.

It's soo hot!! Yesterday Serena and I took the universities' bus with some other students to get groceries on the other side of town. The teacher who drove us was really nice. He told Serena about getting into being a teacher (which she is doing) and told me about teaching English in Japan (he worked there for a year). All the students seemed nice and it was fun meeting new people. I can't wait to do it again next week! Anywho I'm off to go camping now, hope everyone has a good weekend!

I tried marbling again using Sephora by OPI and Plum Power by Sally Hansen (both which I won from Cheryl Clarke). I think it turned out slightly better than last time and this time I painted my nails white before attempting to marble them.

This weekend I am probably going camping out of town. My sister's boyfriend's family is having a big camp out with live music and over 50 people coming! It's a three day thing but I don't know if I'll stay the entire time. Maybe I'll have a job by then! I'm going to put an ad online and maybe at the university, offering English tutoring. English was always my favorite/best subject in school and I'd love to offer a trade for learning some conversational Japanese.

Geo Magic Black (CK-105) circle lens review

Not all hazel eyes are made the same! Generally (in natural light) my eyes are dark blue around the edge of my iris, olive green for the majority of my iris, brown around my pupil, and I have a few speckles randomly through my iris. Sometimes my eyes look entirely brown or blue, depending on the lighting. As far as I can tell, my irises are regular to small in diameter.

For my first pair of circle lenses I wanted something that would give me a dramatically different look. I went for the Magic Lenses in black, made by GEO. These were bought awhile ago so the diameter is "only" 14.5 - if you purchase these lenses nowadays (they are now known as GEO Magic Ultra Black lenses) they are 14.7 in diameter!!

As you can see, the lenses are quite bigger than my natural irises. Some people complain that these lenses are too big and give them "alien eyes" but I love them! I think these lenses make my light eyes look dark and dolly like. I feel 100 times cuter when wearing these circle lenses!

The GEO Magic Black lenses blend well with the natural iris, so you don't have to worry about it moving around or your pupils being too small. I've even seen these lenses on people who have lighter eyes than myself and they still look cute!

Final Thoughts: I would have given these lenses a 5/5 except for the fact that I did have an issue with a thin strip on the edge of of the left contact one coming off (it's not very noticeable). I don't know if this was a factory defect (it looked as though the contact had been cut unevenly), or some fault of my own. The left contact now tends to irritate my eye, but the right contact is still very comfortable and I love the way the contacts look one me

Here are some of the items I've purchased recently. I'm such a thrift store addict! All the items above cost around $20 CND - 4 of them I got for free. Do other places have Free Stores? It's like a charity shop, except everything in it is free! You can take whatever items you like; the point of most free stores is to keep functional items out of the trash.

This Disney Platnium Collection tank top I got for free when I bought two other sleeveless shirts at the Value Village near my house. I like that the silhouette of Mickey almost looks like deco

And this is what I wore today. Nothing special, I just didn't feel like straightening my hair and the relaxed style of maxi dresses seemed to suit it.

I finally finished watching Gal Circle and I was disappointed with the series ending. The gal leader was like "hey guys, let's disband" to her gal circle, so they do and all stop being friends and get crappy jobs. It made me a little mad to be honest. The rest of the show was fun in a cheesy way. I'm always up for seeing how people in Japan perceive gals! As of yesterday I started watching the anime Super GALS. I'm not much of an anime person (I still haven't finished re-watching all the Sailor Moon episodes yet!), but I find Japanese gyaru quite interesting so I'm going to keep watching the anime anyway. It was made around the same time as Gal Circle (the early 2000s), and deals with some of the same issues and gal stereotypes. The main characters are fairly cliche for anime, but it's still a cute show to watch and they have little blurbs about gal speak every once in awhile during the episodes. I'm only on episode #8 but I'll update on this show again once I finish it.

Participating in the Canada Day parade yesterday was a lot of fun! Lots of little girls were like "It's Ariel!" or "A mermaid!!" and got excited when I'd wave to them or blow bubbles their way. I love little kids lol. I was insanely tired afterward, so I didn't stick around for the festivities though. I slept for a few hours then got up in time to go to the bar. I haven't been to the FX Niteclub in awhile, but it was still as shitty as it always is. You're not allowed to take photos inside the club and the toilets in the women's washroom NEVER have toilet paper, and they rarely have hand soap either. Nasty. But it was nice having a night out and seeing old friends who live in Port Alberni.

I think my interview at Ardene went well today - I really hope I get hired!!

Of dresses and circle lenses

These are the 3 dresses I got for the price of one (the most expensive dress was $19.99 CND). I think I'm going to alter the neck on the stripped dress, and also make the maxi dress a few sizes smaller in order to fit me better. The polka dotted dress fits fine but I don't know where I'm ever going to wear it - a wedding maybe? Either way, it's nice to finally have a "little black dress".

I'm going out of town for a few days tomorrow (I have to come back Friday because I have a job interview at Ardene!), but when I'm back I think I'll do a review thingy of circle lens contacts. I have hazel eyes and I've only ever found one example/review where the person had hazel eyes. Examples of circle lenses on dark brown eyes are plentiful, and even blue and green eye reviews are getting more popular, but I don't often see light brown or hazel eyes. So anyway, I have some GEO lenses already and just purchased some Beaucon Jewels in brown, which I will do a review on once I get them.

PS I just finished watching "The Young Victoria" and it brought a tear to my eye. I don't know what it is about 18th century romances but they tug at my heart strings like no other era.

All about nails

I did my left hand first and they aren't very good haha. I think the nail polishes I was using dried too quickly so I took a break to regroup, then I did my right hand. With the nails on my right hand I tried to do everything quicker (and by this time I was kind of getting the hang of it) so I think they turned out nicer, but still not nearly as cute as I had imagined. I guess I need to practice more!

The polishes I used were two cheapo "Billie" dollar store brands (I thought they wouldn't dry quickly!), and the OPI polish I won from Cheryl Clarke!

I also bought a hand and nail cream finally! I've only been using it for two days but I already see a difference in the skin around my nails. Plus it was on sale for only $2.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart

I was going through my blog following list and deleting some blogs that never update/whatever, and I think I might have un-followed a few blogs accidentally (ones that I wanted to keep). Gah, I feel stupid!

But anyway, I went to the thrift store today and they were having a sale, buy one dress and get two for free. So now I finally have a maxi dress (it's like two sizes too big but I'm going to alter it) and I'm happy about that. I'll take photos of the dresses tomorrow (aka later today) if the weather is nice.

I also added a "Latest Photo" gadget thingy on the sidebar of my blog so I can upload useless pics without spamming up my blog. Basically it's pointless, but kinda fun at the same time.

Oh and last night I was looking up veneers and found Snap On Teeth! I don't know why I never heard of them before but I'm eager to see my dentist and ask about them. That's all for now!

I was supposed to go out of town yesterday, but I felt sick so I stayed home. Lately I've been thinking a lot about having a nose job. The idea of knives up my nose and removing the cartilage scares the crap outta me, but I've had lots of surgeries and I'm still here! (Open heart surgery being the most serious surgery I've had) In photos my nose usually looks ok, but if someone takes a photo from the side or above/below me, I hate the look of my nose. I feel that it sticks out too much. I'd like the bridge and the bump in the middle shaved down, and then maybe something done with the fleshy part around my nostrils but I don't know what. I really like the way some half Asian/half European girls noses look but I don't know if that would even be possible, let alone suit the rest of my face! The other thing that scares me about getting a nose job is the idea that I might not like it when it's finished. I don't want to get 50 nose jobs and end up with a Frankenstein monster face! I also want to get my lower teeth straightened one day. I'd get veneers as well but I'm sure they're way too expensive for me!

I'm back home again - and happy to see my baby Bobo! The one thing I hate about travel is that I can't always take Bobo with me. I seriously miss him and feel home sick after a day or two without him. I'm a loser but I love my little furbaby!

I didn't do anything exciting while visiting my parents. I was sick for the first two days :( On Father's day we went for dinner which was nice. I also helped my mom work on parade stuff. Yesterday I got home around 11pm and this morning I went to the mall and bummed around for a few hours with Graham. Tonight I'm going to see "Get Him To The Greek" with my roommates. Blah blah blah, I'm sorry this was such a boring/pointless post! I haven't taken any photos lately, nor have I done anything fun!

My first gal meet

Yesterday I met with Sarah and Michiko at the Metropolis mall in Vancouver! I borrowed my sister's cell (yes, I am probably the only living person without a cell phone), to keep in contact in case I got lost and to also take photos with! Unfortunately she lost the USB cord for it, so I took photos of the cell phone pics with my own camera :P

I took the 10:30am ferry to the mainland, so I had time to waste. I stopped at the Tinseltown mall in Chinatown and spent $12 at the Yokoyaya123 store (it's a spinoff from Dasio). Here are some of the things I purchased:

After that I went to Metrotown to meet the gals. We met at Starbucks, took puri, and then hung out at the food court. All together I spent $67, which is more than I thought I'd spend, but it's ok. In a way I miss living on the mainland, but at the same time I'm glad I live on the island because the mainland is so expensive! Anyhow, I saved the best for last...

Some things I've bought recently...

There's more I should have probably added but I was too lazy to dig it all out of my drawers. The most expensive item out of the bunch is the dark grey/black shirt with the red roses, which cost me $12, and then I got the grey skirt for free with it. The black dress was 33 cents, the Bumpits were $1 (I paid $16 for Bumpits back in December!!)...you get the picture.

For the lolita meet today we met at the library and walked around the downtown area. I don't much like any of the shops downtown but having a look around never hurts. After that we went to a restaurant that's built on stilts over the ocean. I hadn't been there before so now I'm glad I tried it out. One girl had to wait a few hours for her ferry boat to get back home (she lives on a smaller island just off of Vancouver Island), so I suggested we go to my house since it's not far from the seaside. We hung out here for a bit, playing Mario Kart and DDR but now I'm super tired! I was handing out more resumes this morning so I didn't get my daily nap! (Shut up, napping is awesome!) It's just after 11pm and I'm off to bed so I can get up early and take the 10:30am ferry to the mainland :)

Tomorrow I have a lolita meet with the local girls, and the day after I'm traveling to Vancouver for a gal meet! I sold a few items, so at least I'll have a bit of money for food and whatnot, but I don't think I'll have enough to do any serious shopping. *sigh* I'm going to hand out more resumes tomorrow but I'm running out of places to apply at!

If anyone is interested in Japanese geta or zori shoes, I have some listed on etsy right now...I wish I could find some in my size! :(

Thoughts and stuff

The stages Western gal circles go through really interest me, so I've been trying to put together a list of current and dead gaijin gyarusa. Did you know there have been at least 70 galcir started in the West!? I would say the most successful circles are Bulaklak Tribe (the first circle in the US if I'm not mistaken), Diamond, Hysterical, Yasei and Hibiscgyaru. Other galsa that I think are fairly successful but maybe not as well known, are Hyper, Boggy Peak, Glamorous Unit and Mix & Match. I'm sure there are more gaijin circles that rock, but these are the ones that I often see members being active. Bulaklak and Diamond are really the only circles that I've seen holding *big* events, but I don't have much info on circles in other countries, so for all I know the other galsa are holding events as well.

Anyway, there are a handful of half-assed/now dead gaijin gal circles that tend to make the rest of Western gyarusa look bad. I'm having my first gyaru meet next week and I really hope we can start a strong circle. I have ideas for parties and meets, etc but for most of them we will probably have to be more established. I admit that I am worried about the fact that none of us are super experienced in gyaru. I've only been into gal for about a year and a half, and I definitely wouldn't call myself a gal 24/7...some days I just like to throw on whatever is laying around and not bother with my hair and makeup!

One of my biggest pet peeves are people who start gal circles just to say they started one, or just do it to try and gain attention/popularity. Do it because you want to promote gal, meet new people, improve your style and have fun! You may have started a circle but that doesn't mean anyone else is going to join it, or overthrow you as a leader. It seems that a lot of Western gals seem to think of gal circles as just a title, rather than an actual project. I hope I don't sound like a crazy person for ranting!!

I am really liking my hair! I wore pumps with stiletto heels while at the mall today and that was such a bad idea! My feet swelled up and I'm pretty sure I've got blisters now haha. I was handing out resumes today - I really hope I get hired soon!

I can't pay my bills, but at least I look good!

I took some photos earlier but accidentally deleted them! Arghhh

Know what I always like? Group shots of gals! Individual and purikura group shots are cool, but actual shots of the gals hanging out together around town or at meets is always so interesting to me. Especially when it's a group of gyaru with a bunch of different different styles. Also, I really want to get a grey/silver wig (because I don't want to bleach my hair), so I can try tsuyome style.

I spent the last few days at my Mom's house. My mom and I decided that we're going to be in the local Canada Day parade! We're decorating her van like a boat and encouraging the sales of wild BC shrimp. I'm going to dress up like a mermaid and walk beside the "boat", with Bobo dressed up like a little shrimp haha. The parade is always on TV and stuff so I hope I don't look like a total dork!

Today my friend B was driving me back to Nanaimo (it was her first time driving her truck outside of Port Alberni) and it died on the highway! We were lucky though because a mechanic pulled over to help...after we had been sitting there for about half an hour! I'm going to baby sit her little boy (he calls me "Auntie Kiss" because he can't really pronounce "Chris" haha) next weekend and I'm so excited! I love babysitting haha. And tomorrow I'm going to the mall to hand out a billion resumes. I WILL get a summer job, even if it kills me!!

New hair!

Last night Serena was doing her hair (she's putting it into dreads) so I decided to do my hair as well! I chopped off about two inches (it's sort of asymmetrical now), bleached a chunk on the right side, then used blonde dye to cover the chunk plus the top of my head, leaving the underneath layer a darker brown/blonde. I might add streaks of either light pink or purple (I have leftover dyes from when I was a teen and used to dye my hair all the time), and I have some darker brown left so I could add streaks of that as well. For now I'm pretty happy with it though!
Sorry I'm not wearing makeup in the photos, I just woke up and wanted to take pics right away haha! Also, the nail polish I'm wearing is one of the ones from Cheryl :D

Today I was bored and started watching Gal Circle, even though I have a few other TV series that I've started watching but haven't yet finished :P
Anywho, the story of Gal Circle revolves around a random cowboy from Arizona (lol wtf), who came to Shibuya to look for some chick in order to save his Indian friend...or something like that?? He constantly runs into these chicks from a gyarusa called "Angel Heart" and drama sprinkled with hi-jinks ensue. I'm only on the 4th episode and I'm not in love with the show (I think it's meant for a younger audience), but the show is cute and gives a neat look at gal circles in Japan during 2006! It's worth watching if you're curious :)

Serena, Andrew and I went to the lake because today is National Canoe Day or something like that. Serena got to kayak while Andrew and I sat on the grass with my dog Bobo. It was quite nice out, but not as sunny as yesterday. Yesterday I actually got to tan for a bit! After being at the lake, Serena and I went shopping then came home. I made some sushi but forgot to buy avocado so it's just simple seaweed, rice and crab. Oh well!

I saw this girl's hair in Blenda magazine and fell in love! I want her cut and color! I might try dying my hair later tonight or tomorrow

How long have you had your piercings? and do you think its okay to have them with gyaru style.
I got my first facial piercing when I was 15 or 16? Eventually I had over 20 piercings, but as I got older I decided to have less. (Right now I only have 5 holes that I wear jewelry in)
Lip piercings, belly buttons and nose studs are (or were) worn gal, but I have never seen a Japanese person with gauged lobes or their septum pierced. I think it's more of a cultural thing than a "gal" thing. Honestly though, I don't think different placements of piercings are a big deal when wearing them with gal, as long as they suit the person and are subtle.

When was the last time you received flowers?
I think it was for my 15th or 16th birthday, and I was so pissed off because I think flowers as a gift is a waste of time and money haha

I wanted to do a quick review of Banana Boat Dark Tanning Oil Spray. I tried my sister's Banana Boat tanning oil last summer, and this year decided to buy some for myself. I love the smell and the way my skin feels after it has absorbed. I use the SPF 4, so I really don't think it protects the skin much from sun damage, but the quick tanning results are worth it for me. I don't think it's waterproof, but it's meant for sunbathing not being active. I love using sprays and it costs so much less than getting a spray tan! I don't use it on my face as I worry about getting breakouts but it's mainly my legs that need some extra help tanning anyhow. And obviously sun tanning isn't one of the healthiest things, but I've yet to get burnt while wearing Banana Boat's spray :)

Look what was waiting for me when I got home - an awesome package from Cheryl Clarke! I can't wait to try everything out. The wallet and bird necklace (not pictured) I gave to my sister, since they are totally her style, and the brown mascara I'm going to give to my Mom (she has naturally blonde hair so her eyelashes are light). Everything else I am keeping and totally excited about! Today I'm wearing the purple nail polish, pencil eyeliner, bronzer, lip gloss and concealer :)

I haven't updated about my weight loss stuff in awhile! Well to be honest, I haven't been losing any weight! Whenever I go out of town I don't really have a chance to workout and I'm always eating fast food. I really really have to get serious about eating right and working out if I want to be bikini ready before it's super hot out. Bleh. I feel really unhealthy this week. I'd better dust off my PlayStation2 and plug in DDR!

I just wanted to quickly update because I'm bored. I'm staying at my Mom's house until tomorrow night when I get a ride back home with Josh (who my sister is now dating). I came to Port Alberni yesterday and went to the bar for a few drinks with Brad M. He wanted to go for a 4 hour hike today but unless he planned on carrying me, there's no way I could go 4 hours up a mountain without dying!
Today I went to the thrift store with my Mom. I spent about $12 and got about 9 shirts, 2 bras, a dress, 2 pairs of bedsheets, and too many towels to count! And did I mention that everything I got was like brand new? Yay for catching sales! I gotta take photos of my latest purchases once I get back home. That's all for now!

Stinky puppies and such

Yesterday was fun! Josh came over with his bulldog, Don. I had to take Bobo to the vet so Don came along and all the people at the vet building were like in love with him haha. (I babysat him for a few hours while Serena & Josh were hiking) Bobo was grumpy from getting a vaccine shot, plus a thermometer in his bum, and I think Don being there and getting all the attention just made it worse. Poor Bobo haha. When Serena and Josh came back we all had salmon dinner outside by the fire. Well, technically Andrew and Graham didn't eat anything, but we all hung out. After that we walked to the nearby pub for one drink, then walked back home in the dark. Josh stayed the night (he lives like an hour away from us), and Don hopped into bed with me and Bobo. So cute! He snores like crazy but I didn't care. He's just so loveable! I want to steal him hehe

My birthday was last Saturday, but strangely I don't feel any older. It's like I've gotten to the point that I'm so old, that another year doesn't make a difference. Soon I'll be forgetting my age! But anywho, I went to Port Alberni on Friday (it's about an hour's drive away), to go to my friend's birthday party. It was a lot of fun and my friend from Alberta was there - I didn't even know he was going to be in BC! There was a bonfire in the back and indoor/outdoor drinking. I now have few strange stories from that night haha. The next day I spent with my Mom and Grandma. I got a free dinner at Smitty's (nice!) and later that night Serena, Andrew, Josh and I drove about two hours to a campsite near Ucluelet/Tofino. We met my friend David there and then stayed for two nights. Other than waking up feeling sore and bruised, it was a lot of fun! Next time I camp I'll bring a foam mattress though haha. I used a cheap disposable camera while camping (I thought it would rain while we were there so I didn't want to risk bringing my camera I use for work), so I don't have any photos yet.

One of my birthday presents was this OPI nail polish. My sister bought it for me, thinking it had a pen tip. As you can see in the picture above, I did a horrible job using it on my fingers (the brush is too wide to get into the parts of my nail closest to my skin, without getting polish everywhere). It dries really quick, and does a great job for touch ups though!

In case you're wondering, I didn't ask for anything for my birthday but I received nail polish, a picnic basket + set, a 23" computer monitor, movie tickets, a DQ "treatsa pizza" and $40. My Grandma thought I was turning 26 and my Dad thought I was turning 23. Lol. So I'm now officially 24. Wow, that sounds old! But I am excited to see what the year brings

I didn't end up going out of town today, I'm going to wait and go on Friday instead. I got a new computer monitor and I'm so happy with it! My Mom got a new computer for her bday and I'm happy for her. When I go to her place on the weekend I'm gonna have to teach her how to use it though haha.

So I think the Vancouver galsa is pretty much official now. We're going with the name SakuranBomb. In June we're gonna do a meet in Vancouver, and I can't wait!

And even though I said I wouldn't I bought some more clothes. I'll add pics later.

I spent today on Gabriola Island. Tomorrow I'll be going to Port Alberni and most likely staying there until Sunday or Monday. My birthday is this weekend so I'll be partying and then possibly camping. I've never actually officially camped before (I'm a freak, I know), so I'm kind of scared to start doing it now! If the weather is nice I might go for it. The main thing I'm worried about is waking up with ugly hair and no makeup and having everyone see me. I know it sounds superficial, but I'm quite insecure about my skin. And about pooping in the forest! Bleh. Anyway, here are some pictures I took today:

The other day I donated a ton more stuff + clothes to the thrift store. I still have a butt-load of things I want to get rid of, but most of them I'd like to try selling first. I have a few things on etsy (vintage clothing) but I still gotta list a bunch more!

In the past few days I've watched A LOT of tv. It's gross. The next two days I'm going to be spending with my parents so I probably won't be online much. I'll be going to Gabriola Island again, and I hope this time I get to go to the alpaca farm! Tomorrow I'm picking out a new computer monitor as my bday present from my parents. I kind of want a laptop but it's not necessary. Alls I needs is a screen that can do higher resolution stuff for my photography. Annnd I don't think I have anything else to say right now!
